Team of prof. Romana Šlamberová, MD., Ph.D. from the Department of Physiology of the Third Faculty of Medicine, dealing with the consequences of drug exposure during pregnancy, were successful in publishing the work in a highly cited journal (quartile Q1) in the research of Physiology.

The first aid course for first-year students of the Third Faculty of Medicine took place in two runs from 12th to 16th May in Dobronice. Despite the bad weather a number of arterial haemorrhages were stopped, first aid was provided in a mass car accident, bike or motorbike crashes or epileptic seizures. All model situations were based on real stories and big thanks belong to lecturers, both teachers and students of higher grades.

Assistant Professor at the Third Faculty of Medicine and holder of several „Syllaba Chalks“, PhDr. Martin Loučka, was elected a committee member of the European Palliative Care Association at the European Palliative Care Congress in Berlin on Friday 24th May 2019. He is the very first Czech representative in this position.

On 18-19.1. 2019, the newly founded European Network for Research on Plant Based-Diets held their kick-off meeting at the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. The initiative brings together scientists from a wide range of medical disciplines (from basic research and nutritional physiology to research on the intestinal microbiome and metabolism as well as nutritional epidemiology). The involved scientists plan to evaluate the health effects of plant-based diets on both pediatric and adult populations, with the goal to become the leading scientific network in Europe in the field of plant-based diets.
