Assistant Professor at the Third Faculty of Medicine and holder of several „Syllaba Chalks“, PhDr. Martin Loučka, was elected a committee member of the European Palliative Care Association at the European Palliative Care Congress in Berlin on Friday 24th May 2019 (https://www.eapcnet.eu/about-us/eapc-board-2019). He is the very first Czech representative in this position.
Dr. Loučka believes that it will be an opportunity for palliative care in the Czech Republic to cooperate even more with foreign colleagues and let others know what is going on in our country. The EAPC is active in a number of research projects, publishes best practices and expert opinions on relevant topics, such as euthanasia, palliative care in dementia or the recommended curriculum for medical schools. In the care of terminally ill and dying EAPC is the source of expert opinions for the WHO or the European Parliament.
