In 1988 appointed chairman of Dept. of Neurology, Cz Institute for Postgraduate Medicine, with responsibility for neurological board certifications in Czechoslovakia. 1991-1994 he attended a collaborative research on „Cerebrovascular disease“ in the extent of 4 x 3 months at Yale, New Haven, Connecticut, USA. One component was also a collaborative research using Positron Emission Tomography in brain injury, provided by a Swiss-Czech grant in Graubünden. After his engagement in topics of stroke and haemodynamics he studied factors of mental deterioration in senium and the interface between normal aging and Alzheimer´s disease. The last years were devoted to observations in the faculties of language, namely to the capacity of repetition and naming in normal persons of various age as well as in the aphasic patients. During these activities he acted as organizer in educational projects of the European Federation of Neurological Societies, with 19 courses for young neurologists in our country and some 12 courses abroad.
