Project Narrative:

Neurostimulatory methods are capable of changing the excitatory-inhibitory equilibrium at the local (surrounding tissue) and global (interhemispheral) level (tDCS) respectively, they can alter local hemoperfusion (rTMS), which underlies their therapeutic effect in neurorehabilitation. Previous work (for all summaries see Kang, 2015) confirmed the effect of a combination of eg. tDCS along with the following motor learning (specific rehabilitation program), namely in the subacute and chronic phase of stroke (post-stroke). As part of the planned development of neurostimulatory methods (transcranial stimulation by direct current or magnetic field), a study will be conducted at the Clinic of Rehabilitation FNKV. The study will focus on the use of neurostimulation to enhance motor learning in patients with residual functional deficiency in limb movement, which already has subacute resp. chronic course.

Requirements for student applicants:

We expect our PhD student to be interested in neuromodulatory techniques, research in rehabilitation medicine and willingness to work actively in scientific studies at the Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic.

The program is suitable for postgraduate students in medicine, physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
