Personalized Therapy of Tumors of the Gastrointestinal Tract

Dr. Sebastian Belle, PD Dr.Dear colleagues, dear students,

We would like to invite you to next Medicine as a Science lecture. We are very glad that PD Dr. Sebastian Belle accepted our invitation.

Dr. Belle is the leader of the Endoscopy working group at the University Medical Centre in Mannheim, where he also works as a Senior Physician. In his research, he focuses on the development and treatment of gastrointestinal tumors.

Specifically, Dr. Belle studies the lifestyle-associated risk factors for colorectal cancer and their interaction with genetics. His team is working on establishing a biobank of colorectal adenomas and carcinomas. They are interested in the role of microbiome in carcinogenesis, as well.

Dr. Belle’s Endoscopy working group is also looking at the possible methods of examining the response of tumors to chemotherapy. In particular, they focus on liquid biopsies – the process of identifying and sequencing the traces of tumor DNA in patient’s blood.

PD Dr. Belle will join us online, on the 31^st of October at 5:00 PM and talk about his research and experience in a lecture on the following topic: ‘Personalized Therapy of Tumors of the Gastrointestinal Tract’.
