In addition to access to electronic resources within the university/faculty network, Charles University and the Thi3rd Faculty of Medicine also offer remote access from anywhere (at home, on campus, during internships abroad) via the so-called EZ Proxy/Shibboleth. This access is to all licensed information resources (subscription resources for the Third Faculty of Medicine and for the entire Charles University) and is only possible for academic staff and students of the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, according to valid license agreements. Authentication is based on the assigned name (person number at Charles University – under the photo on the Charles University ID card) and the CAS password.
How to proceed: On the EResources Portal page, click to select the resource you want to use and click
, then you will be taken to the page with information about the resource's accessibility:
Some resources may be accessible only through EZ Proxy or only through Shibboleth, or they may be freely available or only available through direct access.
In the UKAŽ search engine, enter the name of the article or journal in the search field (more detailed instructions for searching in UKAŽ). Click on the article/journal/book you are looking for.
If you are not logged in, a yellow bar will appear saying “Sign in to get complete results and to request items“. After clicking “Sign in”, you will be redirected to the Central Authentication Service (CAS), only then can the resource be accessed remotely (if it is remotely accessible under the license terms). Click on
and you will see under what conditions and for whom the resource is accessible.
ATTENTION: electronic resources must be accessed via EResources Portal or UKAŽ, access directly from the publisher's website may not always work. It may also happen that when working with different parts of the database, your access will not work. In such a case, it is necessary to access the database again via UKAŽ or EResources Portal and with CAS verification.
