Science Slam is a competition, during which scientists and students are presenting stand up shows about their scientific work or topic of interest from their field, from humanity through medicine to mathematics. The competition organised by Charles university is open to all students from pre-gradual and post-gradual program. The next run for the competition in medical sciences is held on 11th November 2019, 17.00-18.30 in the Blue lecture hall at the rectorate of Charles University.

The last year's students of the Third Faculty of Medicine, Zbyněk Pavličko, Alexandra Poláková and Jan Drozd (from the left) were nominated for the Margaret M. Bertrand 2019 Award. The winner was an active member of the IFMSA, Jan Drozd. The prize of CZK 20,000 will be taken together with a medical diploma in Karolinum on July 17.

The Carolinum once again experienced the new professors appointment decree ceremony. Fourteen of them were nominated by the Scientific Board of Charles University and three of them from the Third Faculty of Medicine: the plastic surgeon A. Sukop, the cardiologist P. Toušek and the analytical chemist P. Tůma found themselves on the top of the scientific-educational Olympus. Congratulations!

The highest award "Diamond Status" under the Angels Initiative and the European Stroke Organization (ESO) has been awarded this year to the comprehensive FNKV cerebrovascular center. Dr. Peter Vaško who is the Head of Neurological ICU and Cerebrovascular Care took over the award during the 5th ESO Congress in Milan.

On Thursday, May 23, we started a sports and charity event that annually sets in motion the Vinohrady area. Students practically train every day for the “Vinohradska Troika“ run in hilly terrain of the faculty hospital area when moving between pavilions, faculty and dining room, so the run is only a slight acceleration of everyday movemalets. The winner can be virtually anyone, so odds betting is extremely risky.
