The Greek-Latin terminology textbook has been published

Karolinum Press has newly published the long-awaited Greco-Latin terminology textbook titled Essential Medical Terminology: Your Lifeboat in the Sea of Terms by Petr Honč, Jana Přívratská, and Kristina Hellerová from the Department of Languages, Third Faculty of Medicine of CU. Tailored to the needs of international students at medical faculties, the book is a useful resource for both in-person classes and self-study, offering structured explanations of grammar, casting a light on basic word formation principles, and featuring the most common vocabulary used in anatomical as well clinical and pathological terminology.

The factual portal Amboss has been extended from 1.1.2023

From January 2022, the Amboss fact-finding portal in English will be available at the Third Faculty of Medicine, providing access to an interactive library and tests for medical studies. Amboss is an educational portal designed for medical students and doctors. Access is limited by the number of licenses.

Breakfast with a rector of CU on 3. FM 10. January 2023

What are the current challenges faced by Charles University? What creative ideas could benefit CU? What is holding us back? Where do we want to be in five years’ time? The University is now offering all those interested the chance to discuss these topics in an informal environment over a cup of coffee and a croissant – or even a Czech pie! I cordially invite both students and all CU employees to new, regular breakfast meetings, where we can jointly discuss a number of topics affecting the University in a relaxed environment.

New book “Voltage-Gated Calcium Channels”

Dr. Norbert Weiss, neuroscientist and electrophysiologist in the Department of Pathophysiology at the Third Faculty of Medicine, is the co-editor of a major book covering the molecular physiology and pathology of voltage-gated calcium channels in human disorders.
