Project Narrative:

The project is aimed at improving balance, walking, fitness, self-sufficiency and quality of life. The technical solution used is the Homebalance MA medical device, which is based on the principle of using audiovisual feedback, where the patient standing on the strain gauge platform changes the position of his center of gravity controls the game scene on the tablet screen. The device consists of a lightweight portable platform based on the principle of conventional personal weight and a tablet with therapeutic software that is simple to operate. In addition to conventional therapy, the research group of patients hospitalized at KRL with an impaired balance undergoes rehabilitation using Homebalance MA. The aim of the research is to find out the effect of using audiovisual feedback in comparison with conventional rehabilitation therapy. The research will be carried out in cooperation with the Department of Information and Communication Technologies in Medicine FBMI CTU.

Requirements for student applicants:

We expect our PhD student to be interested in use of audiovisual feedback, research in rehabilitation medicine and willingness to work actively in scientific studies at the Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic.

The program is suitable for postgraduate students in medicine, physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
