Offer PhD studies at the University of Florida

RESEARCH DESCRIPTION

Drug addiction is a chronic relapsing disorder of which the neurobiological underpinnings remain elusive. Recovering addicts face not only a high risk of relapse, but also persistent cognitive deficits. Despite years of research, advances in successful treatment remained limited. Our lab is interested in ► identifying neural substrates (receptors, signaling molecules) that may underlie behavioral impairments in drug addiction, and ► testing novel neurobiologically-based interventions to restore brain function and behaviors disrupted by drugs abuse. Towards this goal we use translational animal models in combination with advanced molecular, genetic and imaging techniques.

REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for highly motivated candidates with analytical and experimental skills. Candidates should have a strong academic record, holding a Master degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Chemistry (or equivalent). Or planning to graduate with a Masters degree by the summer of 2020. Applicants are expected to develop an independent line of research leading to the PhD thesis and assist with teaching undergraduate courses.
