Project Narrative:

Ischemic strokes are caused in almost 50% by emboli originating in the heart and in almost 25% in major arteries. Research is focused on cardiological aspects of acute ischemic strokes –epidemiology and prevention, predisposing factors (valvular disease, arhytmias, thrombophilic states etc.), antithrombotic and endovascular treatent. Tis is a joint research with the Department od Neurology.

Requirements for student applicants:

Diploma MD. (medical doctor), motivation for research. Simultaneous training aimed to board certification in cardiology is possible.
