            Laboratory for Metabolism and Bioenergetics focusses on the research into mitochondrial fu
            dysfunction in human health and disease. Our projects deal with the availability of nutrie
            lipotoxicity and their relation to the metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes, with oxidat

            mtDNA damage, skeletal muscle and cancer cell metabolism and the impact of drugs and envir
            on mitochondrial function.


            We were the first laboratory in the Czech Republic to start using the Seahorse metabolic f
            thanks to which we have unparalled expertise and experience in the fieed of metabolic anal

            also makes use of standard molecular biological methos, confocal and electron microscopy, 
            bioenergetic methods, metabolomics and enzymological and biochemical analyses. We collabor
            with our colleagues in the Královské Vinohrady hospital and other institutions.
