On behalf of the Medicine as a Science project, we would like to invite you to one of the last lectures in this academic year. Our guest will be Prof. Hugues de Thé, MD, PhD, from France (Collège de France / Hôpital Saint-Louis). Prof. de Thé is a world-renowned expert in biochemistry, molecular biology and oncology. He is best known for his pivotal role in characterizing the PML/RARA gene in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) and discovering how retinoic acid and arsenic can cure this disease. His research transformed APL into the first historical example of leukemia cured by targeted therapy. His current work focuses on cellular biology, gene transcription, and molecular mechanisms of therapeutic response in cancer. |
