Project Narrative::

The project is focused on the problematics of iron transport mechanism and cell damage/cell death in specific tissues as a result of iron accumulation.In the project, we will further study cellular functions and mechanisms of iron transport into cells in patients with diabetes mellitus or prediabetes, or in patients with heart failure. It is also possible to monitor the effect of increased iron intake on the development of metabolic syndrome.
