Faculty measures against the spread of the disease Covid-19

Today, March 10, 2020, the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic has announced a closure of all teaching institutions for students of all forms of study with immediate effect from tomorrow March 11, 2020.

The Charles University and the Third Faculty of Medicine are now following these measures:

1. All attendance-required teaching is stopped from March 11, 2020 until further notice.

2. Where possible, heads of the individual workplaces/departments will ensure replacement of the frontal teaching (including the teaching of preparatory courses for university applicants) - on-line streaming, video-presentations, commented presentations, distribution of the teaching materials, self-study tasks, etc. Information on specific forms of substitution will be provided no later than March 16, 2020.

3. Substitution of the clinical teaching will be carried out in relation to the epidemiological situation, personal, organizational and material conditions of an individual workplace/department so that students can meet the study requirements by the end of the academic year.

4. Examinations and state examinations will take place on the dates announced, written tests will be held so that there are no more than 100 people present in one room.

5. The presence of the students on the faculty premises will be limited to 4 pm on weekdays and forbidden during weekends. Individual exceptions may be given by a faculty employee to whom a student comes to discuss a specific case or to conduct research activities.

6. The Erasmus program: The European Office of the Foreign Relations Department of the CU will contact the students preparing for their stay by telephone and call on them to cancel their stay at foreign universities. Foreign students already studying or currently travelling for Erasmus at CU are subject to the above measures.

7. All staff and students are strongly advised to limit their private trips abroad to the absolutely necessary minimum.

8. The dormitories and refectories of the Charles University continue to operate with increased hygiene measures. Students and guests staying at the dormitories of the Charles University are asked to closely monitor their health status and in case of any complications act immediately – contact myself or Dr Škrha. At the same time, we ask all residents to comply with all safety and hygiene measures and to act responsibly towards their surroundings.

For interested and available students of the English curriculum an information meeting about the risks of COVID infection will be held on March 11, 2020 1:00 pm in the Syllabus lecture hall - the meeting will be recorded and the video placed on the faculty website, so if it is not convenient for you to attend, you can watch the video.
