Dean's Regulation on Possible Covid 19 Virus Infection (Coronavirus)

 

 


Please read the following documents concerning prevetative measures in case our students have visited countries with high rist of Coronavirus infection.




A. Statutory order of the Public Health Authority of the City of Prague

Statutory order of the Public Health Authority of the City of Prague regarding the return of university students from China and from the regions of Italy where the spread of Covid-19 has been proven.


1. China

All students, that have visited China during the last 2 weeks:


  • Must wihout delay inform the Public Health Authority of the City of Prague about the fact they have visited China using nonstop phone No 733 673 900;

  • Must not attend lessons for at least 14 days after returning form China

  • Must not visit the University/Faculty buildings (study rooms, libraries) for 14 days after returning from China

  • Must limit any contacts with other persons for 14 days after returning from China

  • Following requirements should be met if the students returning from China are living in a shared accommodation: shared accommodation must be equipped with virucidal hand disinfectant, disposable paper towels must be available in all sanitary areas, cleaning and disinfection of all shared areas including sanitary areas with fully virucidal agent and daily waste disposal should be ensured .


2. Italy

In reaction to the epidemiological situation caused by Covid-19 infection in Italy, the Public Health Authority of the City of Prague issues this statutory order regarding the students returning from their stay in areas where the spread of Covid-19 coronavirus infection has been documented.


As of 24th of February 2020, cities and areas of Italy affected are: Codogno, Castiglione d'Adda, Casalpusterlengo, Maleo, Fombio, Bertonico, Castelgerundo, Terranova dei Passerini, Somaglia and San Fiorano, the city of Milan and surrounding area, Veneto, Piedmont (Turin and surrounding area) and Emilia Romagna (Bologna and surrounding area).


Fourteen days after their return from the affected area (the maximum incubation period of the disease) students must not attend lectures at school. They are also forbidden to enter the school´s public areas such as study rooms and libraries. They also must minimize contact with others. They must monitor their health status and in the event of any suspicious changes of their health status students must contact the Public Health Authority of the City of Prague +420 733 673 900.


Following requirements should be met if the students returning from Italy are living in a shared accommodation: shared accommodation must be equipped with virucidal hand disinfectant, disposable paper towels must be available in all sanitary areas, cleaning and disinfection of all shared areas including sanitary areas with fully virucidal agent and daily waste disposal should be ensured .


For students returning from the areas not mentioned above no restrictions apply. However, it is recommended to follow general rules of viral disease prevention. If respiratory disease symptoms appear, students should restrict contact with others to minimize infection spread. Students should wash their hands frequently, if a soap is not available alcohol disinfectants should be used. When coughing or sneezing the mouth and the nose should be covered with a napkin.


This epidemiologic measures are necessary due to increased infection and transmission risk in facilities where close contact of people is expected. Measures are set in accordance with the latest information about the disease transmission and in concordance with WHO policy regarding prevention of the disease spread in the Czech Republic.


In case of changes in the epidemiological situation of the disease spread this statutory order and recommendations might be updated.


B. Deans order

The Dean of the Third Faculty of Medicine UK has announced that as of February 25, 2020, the Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Third Faculty of Medicine prof. MUDr. Jiří Beneš, CSc. bears responsibility to handle all professional questions related to possible infection with Covid 19. Prof. Beneš accepted this appointment.

I expressly point out that this authorization only concerns the processing of professional inquiries by students and faculty staff (ie consultancy) and DOES NOT, under any circumstances, replace the obligations set by the Department of Health for the City of Prague. The Department of Health for the City of Prague is the foremost and decisive body in this matter and its decisions are binding on all. Thank you for respecting this authorization.

Additional information on Covid 19 (coronavirus)

A suspected case shall be considered to be a person meeting both criteria at the same time:


  1. Symptoms: temperature, cough and/or shortness of breath

  2. A positive history of travel to risk areas (as of 26/02 2020 China, South Korea, Iran, Lombardy and Veneto) or contact with a person who has been in these areas and is suspected of being infected with the Covid19 virus.
